Esther Shafman

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Esther Shafman. Beloved wife of the late Albert Shafman; loving mother and mother-in-law of Allan & Barbara, Jerry & Ava, and Herbey; cherished Bubby of David & Ava, Jaimie & Laura, Laura Whitney, Michael & Jil, Robbie & Michelle, Hailey & Jason, and Hilary. Doting great Bubby of Aiden, Ethan, and Dylan.

The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to Velma for her wonderful and devoted care of Esther.

Memorial donations may be made to Beit Halochem Canada 905-695-0611.

The service and burial will take place at Bathurst Lawn Memorial Park, 6033 Bathurst St., North York.

The Shiva will be held at both Jerry’s home 3 Craigmont Dr., North York, M2H 1C5 and Allan’s Home 18 Carnwath Cres., North York, M2P 1J5.

Date of Death: Saturday, April 27, 2019

Yahrzeit Day: 22 Nisan

Date of Funeral: Sunday, April 28, 2019

Time of Funeral: 1:00 PM

Memorial Service Location: Graveside Service

Burial Service Location: Zaglembier Section - Bathurst Lawn Memorial Park

Shiva Details: Shiva visits in both homes Monday to Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

This even when her connections to her many friends and activities dwindled with aging and health challenges. She leaves you with many good memories which will always be with you. Dear Shafman Family. The Shafman and Kochberg families are intertwined. Many intermarriages both in Poland and Canada. Some 54 years ago, when we got engaged, Esther and Albert made an entertainment for us in their home on Armour. We and our parents were touched by their kindness and consideration. Aunt Esther brought families together based on love and positivity. For me, she is the last of her generation who began new lives after the Holocaust, strong but generous and kind to her extended family members. Seeing her smiling face on mornings where I was invited to sleep over with Allan, Jerry, and Herbey.made me feel that all was right in the world. G-d bless you Aunt Esther and the entire Shafman family.
