Unexpectedly, on September 24, 2016, Joseph, beloved husband of Cypora. Loving father of Adam and Rachel. Joseph is survived by his brother Philip and his wife Barbara. Joseph will be missed by his nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held on Monday, September 26, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Steeles Memorial Chapel, 350 Steeles Ave. West, Thornhill. Interment to follow at Pardes Chaim Cemetery, Community section. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation (416) 489-7111.

I worked with Joe at Dr. Norman Bethune C.I. for the past 9 years. I will always remember Joe as a caring teacher and passionate educator. I admired his commitment to his students his ability to see the bigger picture. I am deeply saddened by his passing and would like to offer my prayers and thoughts to his family and loved ones.

Cypora, Adam and Rachel, My sincerest and heartfelt condolences on your loss. It's particularly sad to lose someone so unexpectedly. In my years teaching at Bethune and supplying there many years after retirement,, I always enjoyed dropping in to the Math office to say "Hi" to Joe and his Math cohorts.

I am so very sorry. My thoughts are with his family at this time. I worked with Joe for many years at Bethune and looked forward to our chats when he passed through the Guidance Department to say hello. He had such a gentle, calm and sincere manner about him and he will be very much missed.

I am saddened to hear of Joe's sudden passing. We taught together for many years ar Bethune in a very cohesive Math department that was very professional and fun. Joe wa MC at my retirement party and I mentioned then that I admired his ability to express himself so well at short notice.Joe you will be missed. I had the honour and privilege of working with Joe at Dr. Norman Bethune C.I. for the past 12 years and I am shocked to hear the news of his passing. I enjoyed working with Joe immensely for his sense of humour and his tremendous insight on how to be a better Teacher. He was a giving and wise person who provided much guidance to me on many issues related to Education. Joe and I shared a lot of fun times golfing together along with other Teachers from Bethune. I will miss him very much and my thoughts and prayers are with the Jonsson Family at this difficult time.

Even though I never officially met Joe, he is the brother of my dear Uncle Phil, and brother in law to my Aunt Barb, who have always been amazing family to me! Supporting me in the most difficult times and memorial times (loss of my mom, and my daughter Ava, and birth of my girls Evie and Leah)!! And as family, I know the memory of Joe will remain in their hearts, and hope to hear more about their experiences together!
