Lydia Tameshtit (nee Serruya) died Wednesday, April 12th at Toronto’s Sunnybrook Hospital at the age of 80. She will be remembered with loving devotion by her husband of nearly 60 years, Maurice Tameshtit. She was loved by her brother, Leon-Michel Serruya, and sister, Paulette Aziza, and their families. Her only son, Allan Tameshtit, and his wife Robin will remember her as a caring and loving person who was always willing to help with any request. She was a dedicated, playful grandmother, or abuela, to grand-daughters Sidonia, Marisa and Sophie. She was loved by her nieces and nephews Ronny Sananes and Raquel Sananes Grad, Albert, Michel and Jacqueline Aziza, Raquel Corcias and Sonia Bendayan, Nikki, Steven, Michel and Stephanie Serruya.
She and Maurice moved with their son Allan to Toronto from Morocco in 1970 and made the North York community their home. She loved cooking, exercising, reading and spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters, with whom she created many lasting traditions.
The funeral will take place at Steeles Memorial Chapel at 350 Steeles Avenue W at 1:00 pm, followed by burial at Pardes Shalom Cemetery.
