I did not know Gaby very well, but whenever I did see him, he was incredibly friendly and outgoing. I never saw him without a smile on his face. My condolences to the Barsky family, his friends, and everyone else that shared the pleasure of once meeting Gaby.

Sending my deepest condolences to the Barsky family. Although Gaby and I were not that close, I had the privilege of growing up alongside him, starting at Leo Baeck, to Westmount and both living in Waterloo. Gaby has always been someone that I admired and I will never forget his infectious smile and kind personality. Dear Neighbours. Your loss is so profound that mere words can hardly begin to help console you. Watching your family from across the street for many years I can tell you that from my view you had a beautiful and warm family dynamic. Seeing you interact with both your children, devoting time to build a beautiful relationship, sharing your love of activity with them always gave me pause to think that this was how parenting should be. Your son was a man true to himself. For this you must be proud. Although a life was cut short....be sure it was lived on his own terms. Words cannot console you, time will never completely heal the loss but you must carry his legacy to go forth boldly....and know that in the short time you were blessed by his presence, he was indeed blessed with yours.

We all send you love, strength and comfort at this awfully tragic time. Gaby was a young man that everyone admired.

Dear Irene,Alek,and Sabrina Words cannot express the shock and sadness we felt when Tyler called us. Tyler and Gaby were the best of childhood friends. He was at our house constantly. Gaby was a student in my class at Westmount many years ago. I am so shocked and saddened to learn about this tragic loss. Gaby was a real star--always smiling, kind and considerate. The kind of person who really brightens up a room. My heart goes out to you, Sabrina, and the whole Barsky family.

Dear Barsky family, Gaby was a mentor to me. Everyday at Tae Kwon do, he would teach me something new about how to fight harder, and to give it all I had. Gaby's loss has torn everyone he knew to shreds. However I strongly believe that no matter where Gaby is, he will still be watching over you guys every single day. Gaby is your guardian angel, and he will do a damn good job at keeping watch over you guys. He will be with you every single day, for the rest of eternity. Gaby was the fire in a dark room. He was the spark that made me continue to try hard in martial arts and personal fitness. Without Gaby, I don't know where I would be today. Our deepest condolences to the Barsky family. We just can't imagine the pain your family is going through. Our son, Daniel, was a good friend of Gaby for many years. They first met at TKD, went to Westmount together and were at the same University. We have many fond memories of Gaby visiting our house over those years and feel very privileged and fortunate to have known him. He was an incredible person, charismatic, intelligent and had a heart of gold. He was always willing to help others no matter how busy he was. To the Barsky family, I am so sorry for your loss, and I can't imagine what you're going through. Gaby was an amazing person who lived life to the fullest. I am so thankful to have known him, and I know his spirit will live on because of how many lives he touched. I last saw Gaby in October when he was in LA for the weekend. I'm from LA but went to NBB for 7 summers, which in my last summer there I got to know Gaby really well. When he was in LA he contacted me and I was so happy to have seen him and meet some of his friends doing co op in SF with him. He told me that he was having the time of his life here and loved everything about California. I was so happy to hear about his work, his friends, and his adventures here. He lit up so much when he spoke and he was so excited to be here. I will always remember Gaby for his smile, laugh, and excitement for all that life had to offer. He invited me to visit him in SF and I wish I had made the time to do so. He was an incredible person and I just wanted to let you know how much he meant to me. If I could have been at the funeral, I would have in a heart beat. Just wanted to send you my love and thoughts during this difficult time. Dear Sabrina, Irene and Alek, I was terribly sorry to hear about Gaby. He was a great friend and I remember him very fondly. It is very apparent from people's comments that he affected the lives of everyone he knew. Though he was only here for a short time, know that the effect he had on those around him lives on forever. Hi, my name is Eitan. Mr. Barsky taught me taekwondo for over 3 years and over time I became close with him there. He taught me so many things over time that I use in my everyday life. The was to me a teacher, a mentor, and a friend. When I heard what happened, I was devastated. But, my father and I prayed and gave a donation in Synagogue in his honor. He would not want us to dwell in his name. He'd want us to be warriors.

I don't know your family but as a mother of a 20 year old boy I cannot help but feel for all of you. This tragedy has touched so many people in the community. My son called me from school to share stories about Gaby (a boy he never met but was deeply touched by all that he heard). My thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this difficult time.
