Message of Condolence

Betty Lazebnik
I am deeply sorry to hear of Ziggy's passing. I met him at the Revera Terrace where he resided along with my mother who is a resident there. He was one of the most interesting and engagingly vibrant people I have ever met,, extremely intelligent, curious and quizzical, with a terrific story telling ability and a finely developed sense of humour. He always had an observation, a twinkle in his eye and a smile on his face. He enjoyed hearing music when I'd play piano and would participate in a lively manner when he was able, directing me to who was a good singer, etc. He brought so much life to the place, one of a kind in the best of ways. I enjoyed my short connection with him and was moved by his presence. While I am grateful to have met him, he will be sorrily missed and always remembered.

Dear Weinrauch Family, We were very saddened to learn of Ziggy's passing today. My mother and I had an opportunity to visit him this last Thursday at Baycrest. Ziggy sat at my mothers table for meals for the past year and a half at the retirement home. He was full of life, entertaining, a great storyteller and had a wonderful smile. My sisters and I got to know him from our visits. He was very special to us. May your memories of your father bring a smile to your face. He is at peace now. We will remember him fondly. Sincerely Lola and Eileen Olmer, Sharon Rothblott, and Marilyn Little.

Dear Weinrauch Family, I had the honor to visit with Ziggy on Friday Night, at Baycrest. I noticed that he was at that time, in a sedative state, and very close to being in "Gan Edan". I did not wish to awake him, so I sat by his bedside and said some silent prayers that Hashem should welcome him gently to his eternal resting place. As I sat next to Ziggy, I recalled all the wonderful and meaningful moments that I experienced in his presence, at Terrace Gardens. His love of music and dancing; his love of intellectual debates on various subject matter; the twinkle in his eyes when we discussed controversial issues related to human relationships; his amazing ability to converse in many languages; and above all...his love of people of all ages, stages and cultures. Ziggy was a man of honor and was highly respected within his Retirement Community. Before I left Ziggy this past Friday night, at Baycrest, I kissed his forehead and said "Rest in Peace my friend". Ziggy has left a very memorable impact upon my soul and I am thankful that our paths have crossed in such a meaningful way. I will surely miss my friend, Ziggy, as I know many others will as well. Sending condolences across the ocean to all of you. My sincere sympathy to all, at this very sad time. - Monica Schonberger-Lightman

Dear ziggys family I am saddened by the loss of a delightful charming bright light. Your father always had a smile and a naughty twinkle. I loved watching him dance and enjoy life. He was a breath of fresh air and always tried to help others. He was a caring gentleman and I looked forward to seeing him and listening to his stories. I will miss him. But I am a better person bc he touched my life. My heartfelt sympathy.

Dear Weinrauch family, I am one of the many people that Ziggy had a profound impact on. My dog Brody and I got to know this exuberant man over the past year during our Pet Therapy visits to Terrace Gardens. The highlight was seeing Ziggy, always well dressed and smiling, and getting to spend time chatting and listening to his wisdom and stories. He told me about his family with such pride. You could feel his love for people, and his kindness and respect and willingness to help others. I adored this man though I only knew him a brief time. I'm so sad that he's gone. May his memory live on and bring you comfort during this difficult time. I will never forget him.
