Ed had many fond childhood memories of his parents, Louis and Tillie, and his sister, Claire. In his youth, he studied at Western Reserve University, Chelsea Art School of London and Yale Drama School. He later enjoyed traveling to exotic locations with his son Marc and wife Sandy.
 
Affectionately known to family and friends as Eddie, he began a long, successful career designing interiors and furniture, always with a distinctive signature. He had a passion for music and theatre, and he played piano beautifully. 
Ed went on to design sets and lighting for dozens of theatrical productions, and tried his hand at producing and directing, to high acclaim. He never missed a chance to attend a play or concert, especially to support his friends in the Arts Community. He delighted in expressing his creative talents through his work, and he particularly appreciated the many close friendships formed through creative collaborations. Ed loved to have fun, and shared a joke and a smile at every opportunity.
