It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Simone (Shirley) Alter on August 18, 2018. Simone was the wife of the late Stanley Alter, who adored her. Beloved mother/mother-in-law of Jeremy and Mindy, Matthew and Joanne and Miranda and Michael Givens, she was the cherished hands-on “Grandma” of Rebecca, Daniel and Ethan, Noah and Gwendolyn. Simone’s probing mind, immense capacity for love and zest for life were inspirational and will serve as a lasting legacy for those who loved her. Thanks to the doctors, nurses and support staff at Toronto Western Hospital who provided her with incredible care during her final days.
