Bubbe Helen was such a great woman. We are going to miss her. I'll never forget the first time she met Idana...she pulled me aside right then and there and told me to "be smart" and just marry her already. Can't argue with her advice.

I was saddened to hear of the passing of my aunt Helen, the last of my mother’s 6 siblings. I have many fond memories of Helen, beginning with meeting her in the NY harbor when we immigrated to NY in 1958 and in our last meeting in 2017, during which he Alzheimer was already sadly so present. What immediately comes to mind is the summers we spent with her and family in the bungalow colony in the Catskills, her visit to us in Israel and so much more. I tried visiting Toronto and fortunately my work brought me to Miami annually when she was also spending her winters there. I enjoyed our conversations, her sense of humor her cooking and baking. She had a unique outlook on life which no doubt helped her survive and then rebuild her life in New York and later Toronto. She will be missed

I first met Helen when I was 10 years old and started to visit Suzy at the Rosenbaum house on Brighton. Helen always made me most welcome and her wisdom and warmth were some of her great qualities - along with her delicious baking! Throughout the years, it was always a pleasure to meet her at all the family gatherings - we took a shine to each other and she called me her other daughter. She was a beautiful and special lady who will be missed by all those who loved her. Good memories will keep her close in our hearts forever. Sending our love, Marilyn & Marty

She was a very special person who embodied the true meaning of someone who lived life with love, caring, wisdom and devotion to her family. Those of us who knew her as a friend were fortunate. She left a wonderful and lasting legacy. Our love, Mel and Jan

Words alone cannot do justice to describe the woman that was my Aunty Helen. My father and my Aunty Helen had an unbreakable bond; they survived the horrors of the holocaust together. I thankfully inherited or became an extension of that bond. To me, Helen Rosenbaum was a titan amongst titans; bigger than life itself. I had a very close relationship with my aunt. Whether during my weekly multi-hour Sunday visits with my father to see my late Uncle Sam and Aunty Helen, from the time I could walk to post-bar mitzvah age, or when spending High Holidays together, or when spending time in Florida together or during the countless celebrations of birthdays, anniversaries, bar and bat mitzvahs, weddings and the birth of great grandchildren when we spent together; each interaction with my Aunty Helen conferred a benefit on me; it was as if Aunty Helen took our interactions as an opportunity for her to impart wisdom and to show me love and instill confidence in me. I have had the good fortune of spending the High Holidays with Suzy, Irv, Adam, David and Julia, and later, Dara, Rebecca and David, and of course, Aunty Helen, over the last many years. And soon we were joined by the parade of great grandchildren. Despite my Aunty Helen’s cognitive decline in recent years, her recognition of her blessings, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren never dissipated one iota. She was happiest at Suzy and Irv’s, surrounded by her family, fully cognitive and aware that each of her wonderful children, grandchildren and great grandchildren is a manifestation of her will to survive and an affirmation that the suffering she endured was not in vain. I will forever be in awe of my Aunty Helen and know that I am blessed to have had a relationship with her.

Hi Susan and Family members. Very sad to hear that such a beautiful life ended. I'm very happy that we got the opportunity to meet Bubbie. I enjoyed listening to her stories. I also enjoyed when she would look at me and make a decision whether she was going to like me or not like me. Gordon remembers fondly painting with her and hopefully her painting along with many memories will continue to tell her story.

Helen was my husband's sister, but we were as close as biological sisters. When I married my husband, Helen and Sam, Suzy and Harry lived in New York. On every trip we took to New York, Benny and I tried to convince Helen and Sam to move to Toronto, until they finally did. I made three phone calls routinely everyday. One to my mother, one to my sister and one to Helen. Our lives were intertwined. She was like the grandmother to my children that they never had on my husband's side. We rejoiced in each other's nachas and were there for each other when times dictated. Like any two people in a close relationship, we did not agree on everything, but we never let any disagreements come between us. We had a close relationship for more than 60 years and not once did we spend anytime, not even a day, not talking to each other as our love and respect for one another was paramount. She lived a long a fruitful life leaving a brilliant legacy and all the wonderful memories of times spent together.
