Gilbert Victor Panet

Gilbert passed away on Monday February 1, 2021 surrounded in thoughts and prayers of loved ones. A loving son of the late Harry and Mary Panet. A devoted brother and brother-in-law to Joel and Blanche Panet and the late Leone Panet. The proudest uncle “unc” to his 3 nieces and their husbands Carey and Colby Graff, Hayley and Daniel Resnick, and Jamie and Zachary Schwartz. And an adored great uncle to Jackson, Blake, Ryder, Sloan, Kyle, Dylan, Olivia and Summer.

He will forever be remembered for his devotion to family, easy going personality, love of football, distinguished career as a Pharmacist, and selfless generosity. We love you the most.

You don’t know me. But your brother Gilby and my late husband David Smith were dear and best friends. I was so saddened to read the news of his death. Gilby was at our house many times and I always enjoyed his company. The boys would watch football together and spend hours talking to each other whether in person or over the phone. I am deeply sorry to hear of Gilbert's passing. I new Gilbert in our capacity as members of the board of the Metropolitan Toronto Pharmacists Association. Gilbert was not feeling well for a long time but only relinquished his role as treasurer several days before his death. His commitment to the board was limitless and he will be missed by the many pharmacists he knew.

My sincere condolences to the Panet family. I met Gilbert in 1977 when I joined him at Fullerton Drug Store as a new graduate pharmacist. He taught me many aspects of retail pharmacy as well as many life lessons. He was smart, kind, very funny and had a heart of gold. We visited every time he travelled to Cornwall. I will miss him dearly.

Extending my sympathies to Gilbert's family. I worked with Gilbert when I was a high school student and pharmacy student at Fullerton's in Cornwall, and also part time at his pharmacy on Bathurst St when i was in pharmacy school. I kept tabs on him through my sister and saw him again a few years ago when he visited Cornwall. He was a unique person who enjoyed having fun and clearly loved his family. It is a great loss.
