With much sadness the family of Jack Bernstein announces his passing on March 18, 2021 in his 94th year.

Jack was the loving and devoted husband of Florence (Faigie) for 67 years. He was a wonderful father to Tobi (Alan), Lawrence (Marie-Louis) and Richard (Nancy). He loved his grandchildren Michael (Jennifer), Sarah (Daniel), Bryna, Julien, Ira and Rebecca (Jeff), as well as his great-grandchildren Charlotte, Theo, and Penelope.

Jack was the much-loved son of Michael and Fanny Bernstein (predeceased). He was a devoted brother to Bertha (predeceased), her husband Max (predeceased) and his brother Sydney (predeceased).

Jack had a sweetness about him that grew stronger with age. As his Alzheirmer’s disease progressed over the past 12 years, no matter the obstacles Jack was always accepting and positive. “I’m ok” was his mantra right until the end of his life. His gentle spirit is really what kept us all going.

Baycrest became his home for the last three years. Many thanks to the team on Apotex 5 South for the excellent care and love you provided Jack. You are the best of the best and we are forever grateful. Thanks as well to Dr. Hirani for your care and your guidance.

KLD… Kiss Long Distance… was how Jack ended every phone call when he wasn’t with us. Especially his beloved Faigie. It now has even more meaning and we’ll think of these words forever.
