Aunt Loretta was the font of knowledge about the Alter family. She knew the generations and the family connections of the generations of the entire Alter family without peer. She was a fierce defender of her children. She traveled to Rochester when crawling along NY 104 was a tough trip. May her memory continue to inspire her grandchildren, her nieces and nephews, her grand and great grand nieces and nephews as well the future generations of her own grandchildren to understand the difficulties that she was able to communicate of the earlier generations of our family and clan.

Our family would like to offer our deepest condolences to Chuck, Mark, Ian and Shawn and families. The loss of a wife, mother and grandmother can never be replaced. In a few weeks Loretta and Chuck would have celebrated their 66th wedding anniversaries. May the many happy memories of a long and eventful life help to fill the deep void that you all feel now. Chuck, Mark, Shawn, Ian and Sarah, Larry and Ingrid, Paul and Hindy: We were shocked and saddened to hear of our cousin Loretta's passing. She kept in touch with us regularly, but since her current extended hospitalization it was difficult to speak with her unless she called us. Loretta and her brothers are the only cousins on our mother's side and we saw them all the time when we were young. Wishing the entire family strength to carry on through this difficult, painful time.
