Our deepest sympathies. We were so very saddened to hear about Aliyah’s passing. Our boys were in daycare with her and spoke about the cards they were making for her when they knew she was ill. I hope they’ll be able to finish them and give those to you. We will talk about the environment and equity as a way to remember her and keep working on some of the things she loved.

Sari and George. I have never known such a tragedy and I'm certain I have never felt such pain as the pain you are feeling now. After listening to your tribute, I am also sure I have never known the joy and pride and love that you have felt as her parents. It's clear that Aliyah was a remarkable person, and in her way, she lived a full and meaningful life. Rachel and I are heading to the nursery today to pick out a sapling that we will plant in our yard in Colorado once the snow melts. We'll be thinking about you both and Aliyah.

Dear Sari and George, I am so terribly sorry for the tragic loss of your child. The rabbi’s comforting words of turning sorrow into song resonate greatly with me. I remember your daughter from last summer when we were putting together the bench for Nathalie. She was there by your side curious and full of life. It will be so difficult to get through life without your beautiful daughter but if anyone can make it through, if anyone can make the impossible possible, it will be you and your husband, in large part due to your incredible strength and spirit and due to the strength and kindness of the strong community supporting you. Aliyah will always be with you. Her song will be heard by all for years to come. I want you to know that I will plant her tree overlooking the rising sun near my home in France. Her spirit will continue to ascend and symbolize for my profession as a Jackman kindergarten teacher hope, love, truth and joy.
