The family is deeply saddened by the loss of our father, father-in-law, brother,  grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend.

There are few like him and we were blessed to have had the privilege to call him one of our own.

Leon was born in Łódź Poland in 1928. Because of the great wisdom and foreshadowing of his late father Aaron Hoffman z”l, they immigrated to Canada and escaped the horrors of the holocaust.

He had a beautiful life and a beautiful love story with the late Sari Hoffman z”l and together they raised four boys, Howard, Marty, Brian and Danny.

But what he succeeded in most, was his humanity and kindness to anyone who crossed his path.

One of his great achievements in life was Star TV in Toronto, which along with his brother-in-law Vic Lipton z”l built it into a very successful retail & service business, servicing the GTA community for several decades, selling TVs, electronics and custom stereo cabinets.

6 years ago he was overcome with the clutches of Alzheimer’s. This brutal disease slowly took him away from his family and we began our slow goodbye until his last breath Dec 25th 2022. None of us will ever forget him .

He was predeceased by his beautiful parents Aaron and Helen Hoffman z”l, his beautiful older sister Francis z”l who loved him to the end of her days, his late wife and love of his life Sari (Moskovitz) Hoffman z”l, his precious sons Marty z”l and Danny z”l, and his brother-in-laws Mark and Jack Moskovitz z”l.

He sadly leaves behind his eldest son Howard (Marilyn) and third son Brian (Annette), his older sister Mary Lipton and his grandchildren whom he loved so much Michelle, Julian and Shyla Hoffman and his adored great grandson Nicholas. The many nieces and nephews that loved and respected him. The army of friends that were mutually adored by him. And the many people whose lives were forever changed by his kindness.

The family thanks the Nurses, PSW’s and Doctors of Baycrest Apotex Center 4th floor North for their care and humanity in treating Leon over the last few years.

We kindly ask that all donations be sent to Baycrest (https://www.baycrestfoundation.org) and the Alzheimer’s Society (https://alzheimer.ca/en) in hope for a cure to this horrible life altering disease.
