It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mira Koschitzky on June 11, 2023. Survived by her beloved husband, Saul, together they shared nearly 66 wonderful years of married life, three children, 12 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren. Mira will be dearly missed by her children David (Sarena), Joel (Riva z’l), and Tamar (Eric), as well as her cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Born on July 5,1935, in Bratislava, Czechoslovakia, Mira and her late sister, Lily (Pasternak), spent a portion of the war years as hidden children, ultimately immigrating with their parents, Vilma and Frank Martin (Szusz), to Canada in 1947.
For much of her life, Mira was a leader of the Canadian Jewish community, and inspired many women to follow in her path. Known for her incredible warmth, kindness and – above all – devotion to family, Mira will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
The family expresses its special thanks and love to Rosie, Maria, Emmie, Sheba, Yolanda and Remely, who cared so beautifully for Mira during her final years.
Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
