It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sheldon (Shelly) Luftspring on Tuesday, July 2nd at the age of 86. Shelly passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Hospital with his wife, daughter, and sister by his side. Loving husband of Felice Luftspring, son of the late Alexander Luftspring and Sylvia Shear, and son-in-law of the late Carl and Celia Kellen; brother of Sherice Eisenbaum and brother-in-law of Arthur Eisenbaum. Beloved father of Cassandra Luftspring. Shelly will be greatly missed by all, including nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends far and wide.

Shelly had an early career as an electrician and construction company owner, and retired early to drive carpools and support his daughter’s extra-curricular activities. He was also very involved with B’nai Brith and the Linitzers for many years. He loved music and theatre, sports – especially hockey and baseball, and great meals with family. He was charming, passionate, robust, extroverted, and an engaging story-teller; he could start up a conversation with anyone, and had a one-of-a-kind sense of humour.

Shelly’s family extends their sincere thanks to the staff at Lakeridge Hospital, Toronto General Hospital, and especially his doctors at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre who went above and beyond to give him the best care possible.
