We are saddened to share news of the passing of Eleanor Dover (nee Zabitsky) after a long and fruitful life. Eleanor was the devoted and loving daughter to Ralph and Kate Zabitsky; wife of the late Martin Dover; the beloved mother of Kayla and Brian Schneiderman, Nancy and Howard Fleischer, Mark Dover and Lynn Harris, and Howard Dover. She was the doting grandmother and great-grandmother of Lisa and David Schneiderman, Dara (Fleischer) and Dan Rames (Kate and Jonny), Claudia (Fleischer) and Dave Barnes (Millie), Harlie Dover (Auden), Cecily Dover and Alyssa Boulton, Levi Dover and Gentiane Michaud-Gagnon. She was the loving sister to the late Haskell Zabitsky and Rochelle Zabitsky; sister-in-law to the late Morris and late Mina Cohen, and the late Harold and late Joy Fireman, of Ottawa.

Eleanor was a much beloved figure in the community. Eleanor spent her first 46 years in Montreal where she was actively involved in the local synagogue and other community groups. She founded a business in Asian antiques that grew from a basement table to a large warehouse in Toronto. She always found time to be a ‘connector’ in both the Dover and Zabitsky families. Her legacy will be carried on by the many nieces, nephews, cousins, and their families, who adored her. Her last 47 years living in Toronto was similar; integrating into a new community; widening her already extensive coterie of friends and spreading that uniquely generous kindness Eleanor always had a kind word and easy smile for everyone with whom she crossed paths. She was a gentle soul who was loved by many. The family is sincerely grateful to the loving care shown her these last few years by Leolora, Wilma and Jonalyn. She will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made in her honour to the Dover Family Endowment Fund at http://Baycrest.org,
