Phyllis Zelcer, born January 20, 1933 died surrounded by her loving children just before midnight on Shabbat, Friday October 25th.

She was the greatest mother, mother-in-law, Bubby and Alte Bubby of many devoted grandchildren and great grandchildren who heard her arrival at their homes in Canada, the U.S. and Israel with the greeting, “Give a cheer, Bubby’s here!” which guaranteed the beginning of a fun-filled visit of stories, art, music and love of nature.

She was also a loving sister to Ruby Fruitman, special aunt to many, and devoted daughter to her parents, of blessed memory.

Her late husband, Joel, of blessed memory, was loved and cared for each and every day throughout their long marriage.

She lived a long, full life guiding family and countless others to see the best in themselves so they could follow their dreams.

She will never be forgotten, for whenever her children and grandchildren are kind to the checkout girl at the grocery store, comfort someone in need, appreciate the beauty of G-d’s world, or use their chutzpah to get the impossible  done, they know it’s because of an incredible woman who lifted every life she touched. Her legacy is very great indeed.

Funeral service Sunday, October 27th at Steeles Memorial Chapel, 350 Steeles Ave West, Toronto. Time: 1:30 pm. Burial will follow at Bathurst Lawn Cemetery, Ivansk Section, 6033 Bathurst Street, North York.

Her family loved her very, very much, and deeply appreciate the outpouring of love and support that they have received which is carrying them through this time. They feel privileged to be part of a great people whose kindness knows no bounds.

May her memory be for a blessing.
