Andrew Israel Hubert,  P. Eng.
Born January 1, 1931, in Ada, then Yugoslavia, Andrew Israel Hubert passed away peacefully on April 19, 2025,  surrounded by the love of his family.

A child refugee of the Holocaust, Andrew Israel made his way to pre-independence Israel, where he was eventually reunited with his mother Tova and his sister Judith, who predeceased him. It was also there that he met his high school best friend and lifelong partner, Judith (née Turnheim).

Andrew Israel was a proud officer in the army, a dedicated Professional Engineer, and a skilled system planner with the Israel Electric Corporation and Ontario Hydro. He brought intellect, discipline, and integrity to his work.

A man of deep thought and dry wit,  he had a sharp mind and a passion for classical music, opera, theatre, and gardening. He was always ready for a spirited debate, engaging those around him with his ideas, insights, and convictions. His commitment to Jewish heritage, family values, and traditions was a cornerstone of his identity.

Andrew Israel was the loving husband of Judith, devoted father to Oded (Bonnie) and Nira (Kevin), and deeply engaged grandfather to Oren (Corall), Ariel (Leore), Adi, and Yael (Aaron). His guidance, humour, and quiet strength will be missed more than words can express.

Memorial donations may be made to Mazon Canada  https://www.mazoncanada.ca  or  to One Family Fund onefamilyfund.ca/

May his memory be a blessing.
