I'd see Shirley @ Centerpoint Mall & we became friends. Her enthusiasm to live was beyond the expected with all the health issues she was dealing with. She set a great example for all of us. Shirley will be missed. Lynda Shulman

Dear Monica, Reuben and family, There's not much that I can say to soften the sense of loss for your mother and grandmother, also my 1st cousin. I can, of course, recall her as a much older cousin when I was a young child, her wedding, and the growth of your family. May your memories of her be a comfort to you!

We will miss Shirley……the laughs, the texts, the conversations…..and how much she cared for Marsha and Barbara. We loved going together to Beth David and meeting once a week for lunch or dinner with also our friend Helen. May she rest in peace……she was very independent and enjoyed everything.

To Shirley`s Family. My heart felt condolences on the passing of your mother and grandmother. Shirley was quite the woman and loved attending Club Chaverut`s musical programs at Beth David. Shirley always had what to say about the entertainment both good and bad, she was quite the lady.

Dear Reuben and Monica and the entire family: I was deeply saddened to hear the news of the passing of your mom, my first cousin Shirley. Although it has been many years since your mom Shirley & your dad Fred and I have seen each other, I did start texting with your mom back and forth a little while ago when I was trying to accumulate some videos and messages from the extended family for my mother’s 103rd birthday. Your mom and I exchanged a few texts, and I’m glad that we had the chance to reconnect, even briefly. I have very fond memories of the times we shared growing up together within our large family. Those moments of laughter and connection, especially at Passover Seders and other holidays at our “Bubby’s” house on Birnam Street in Montreal, have stayed with me and will always be cherished. Your mom Shirley, your aunt Valerie, your uncle Martin, and their parents Julius and Sylvia…..along with me, my sister Phyllis and our parents, our Uncle Abie and our “Bubby”……….feasting on home-cooked meals, celebrating Jewish holidays, and yelling over each other. Those were simpler times when family get-togethers were a main facet of our lives. I am sorry that we never got to meet you both (and your families) in person, although my mother kept in touch with your mom for many many years, hearing all of the wonderful updates about you and your spouses and children. Please accept my heartfelt condolences during this difficult time. My thoughts are with you, I wish you strength at this difficult time, and I hope that the many wonderful memories you have will be of some comfort as you navigate this immense loss.

To Shirley’s family: I was so saddened to hear of her passing. As her aunt, I remember her always being a loving and caring person. To Shirley, family always came first. Despite periods of ill health, she always tried to remain positive. I hope that the memories of Shirley and her perseverant smile will sustain you during this time of grief and for the years to come.

We met about 40 years ago when Shirley organized my son’s Bar Mitzvah party (And did a terrific job) and Fred video taped the event (And also did a terrific job). Our paths crossed many times since then and it was always a pleasure seeing them. My condolences to the family.
