It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Dorothy Raxlin, who died peacefully with her devoted daughter and family by her side.
Dorothy was the beloved wife of the late Irv Raxlin, adored daughter of the late Miriam and Sam Lichtenstein, cherished sister of the late Anna Hollend and sister-in-law of the late Phil Hollend, and loving sister of Sylvia Lieberman and sister-in-law of Harry Lieberman. She was also beloved sister-in-law to Marilyn and the late Lou Raxlin. Dorothy was the deeply loved mother of Robin Raxlin Gormley, mother-in-law of Jay Gormley, and incredibly proud grandmother of Daniel and Colin. She was treasured, adored by her many nieces, nephews, cousins and her circle of close friends.
A woman ahead of her time, Dorothy lived life with courage, independence, and grace. She traveled the world on her own, built a career as a young working woman at the United Nations in New York City, and later continued her professional life in field of law. Even in her later years, despite her failing vision, Dorothy was determined to be independent.
Dorothy was a woman of integrity, deeply devoted to her family and Jewish tradition. Her strength, elegance, and wisdom will be remembered always.
She will be profoundly missed.
