In Loving Memory of Ann Wigoda
Survivor, Matriarch, Teacher, Force of Nature
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ann Wigoda, a Holocaust survivor, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and matriarch of a beautiful Jewish family.
Born in Berlin, Germany, Ann was a true survivor. She endured the darkest chapter of history. Hidden in a convent during the Holocaust, she should not have lived, but she survived and thrived. Raising her successful family became her greatest act of triumph over this darkness.
She married her soulmate Morris Wigoda (Papa) at just 19 in Israel, and together they built a life rooted in love, tradition, and community.
She was a devoted mother to Chaim Shlomo and Dorit Michelle, who carry forward her values, strength, and sharp sense of humour. Ann was also a proud grandmother to Jessica (and husband Jonathan), Sondra (and husband Richard), Bryan (and wife Kelsey), Oren, Zeve, Ari (and fiancée Noa), and Yael, a great-grandmother to Mia, Jayden, Jacoby, and Makena, and a wonderful mother-in-law to Kendall and Jae. Ann made sure to teach generations of her family to appreciate the beauty of books, music, art, and a well-prepared meal.
She had a fierce intellect and an unmatched zest for life. She will be fondly remembered by her family and friends, who were lucky enough to know her warmth, wit, and wisdom. Her presence was a gift, and her memory will be a blessing to all who loved her.
Special thank you to her team of support and care givers: Minda, Mary Jane, Marie Grace, Dr. Berlin, and the North York General Hospital palliative care staff.
