It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Hilda Balshin, on October 16, 2025, wife to Max, mother to Debbie, Wayne and Brad. Bubby to Alex, Rachel, Lexi, Daniel, Hanna and Oren and Great Bubby to Zev.

Hilda was born in Hamilton on October 10, 1938 to Rachel and Walter Ingeroff. As an only child she was adored by her parents and friends and as a teenager became a Hamilton Tiger Cat cheerleader.
Hilda and Max met in Toronto where they were married in 1958 as Max was completing dental school. Max and Hilda were married almost 67 years.
Hilda loved her family and adored all of her grandchildren, who she would constantly remind to call more often!
In addition to raising 3 children, Hilda was an entrepreneur and small business owner throughout her life. Hilda loved being in the clothing business, initially owning  a dress boutique on Cumberland Avenue  in the 60’s. She went on to own and run numerous dress, jewellery  and novelty businesses.
Max always supported her endeavours and until the week of her death Hilda was still making novelty items for hospital gift shops and corner stores.
As  it became physically harder for her to be on the move, Hilda kept up with the TV turned on to world politics, realty shows, and soap operas. She was always keeping her family abreast on the latest Housewives and Real Property comings and goings.
A special thanks to all of the medical staff at Sunnybrook Hospital, especially Dr. Kaveh Shojania, who did what they could in the last year to make Hilda’s life more manageable.
Donations in Hilda’s memory can be made to Sick Kids Foundation.
