Passed away with his family by his side on October 26, 2025.
Jerry was a devoted and loving husband to Heather, the best and most loving father to Robbie and Jodi Saltsman, Ilana and Sam Goodman and Melissa and Gary Tabak. He was most proud grandfather of Paige,Jenna, Mark, Ryan, Cole, Alexis, Sloane, Ariella, and Brody.

Jerry will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family and all who knew him.

Date of Funeral: Wednesday, October 29, 2025

Time of Funeral: 11:00 AM

Memorial Service Location: Steeles Memorial Chapel 350 Steeles Ave West. Thornhill

Burial Service Location: Mount Sinai Cemetery, 986 Wilson Ave., Toronto, Sunnyside Section

Shiva Details: Friends and family are invited back after the cemetery and visiting hours will be Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 2:00pm-4:00pm and 7:00pm-9:00pm, Sunday 2:00pm-4:00pm,. Shiva will conclude Sunday evening.

Heather and family, I am heartbroken to hear of Jerry's passing. He was a most wonderful person, always telling interesting and funny stories and always asking about everyone's family. He really cared about others and showed a genuine interest in the lives of others. I will miss his cheerful and positive attitude toward pretty much everything. He will definitely be missed!

I have no words. I’ve known Jerry most of my life…since Mel and I met in ballet class when we were little in 1997. He always treated me like a daughter. Jer and Heather are family. Their house felt familiar and warm and inviting and I LOVED spending Saturday afternoons antiquing as a little girl with them and Mel and then getting McDonald’s or trick or treating year after year. Jer had a solid sense of humor - I remember being 8/9 and we’d hear our parents howling at Jackie Mason jokes in the other room. A good Neshama, he was always smiling and sharing a funny story…or two or three!! This news is gutting and I’m so very sorry that my words cannot bring him back. Mel, Heather, I love you both and you are surrounded by so much love and support we will always be there for you. My thoughts are with the entire family, Robbie and Jodi, Ilana and Sam, and Mel and Gary and all of the beautiful grandchildren. Thinking of all of you. Jer will be terribly missed by everyone who knew him. May his memory be forever a blessing.

Dear Heather I am so sad to hear of Jerry’s passing. He was a real mench. Jerry and I would walk our dogs together and it was always a fascinating time. Jerry had a real sense of humour and he kept me in stitches and a smile on my face for hours. I always learned something from him during those times we spent together walking the dogs. He was a wealth of information and a kind and insightful friend. My heart is broken right now because I know he was one of the good guys.

Dearest Heather and the Saltsman family. As I walked in today and seeing the notes on the wall I just couldnt believe my eyes. How could that be. We are so very sorry for your great loss of Jerry. I remember him so fondly when we lived and shared some fun times across the street. and later around the community. May his soul be blessed up above.
