Ilnessa “Baba” Gurvits, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on December 1, 2025, in Toronto leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and resilience. She was born on February 28, 1942, in the city of Stalingrad, USSR. Her life was a testament to the enduring power of the human spirit. Her strength and courage were evident in every aspect of her life, from raising her children to embracing her grandchildren with unwavering love and fierce devotion. Ilnessa loved to cook for them, to go to music concerts, and listen to her eldest son play piano.

She was a monument of strength, gentleness and generosity. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services are being held at Steeles Memorial Chapel on December 3, 2025, followed by a brief service at the Beth Tzedec Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in Ilnessa’s name to the Canadian Cancer Society, {https://cancer.ca/en} or The Sick Kids Hospital, {https://www.sickkids.ca/}.
