It is with profound sadness that our family announces the passing of our patriarch, Schura Sneer Vorona, at the age of 94, who built our family with pride and love. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and children on Sunday January 11, 2026 after a long and storyful life that spanned the world.
He was predeceased by his beloved parents Itic Aba Vorona z”l and Lisa Vorona (Faerman) z”l, and his first wife Fanny (Gronich) z”l. He leaves behind his cherished wife of 52 years, Karny Rivlin Vorona, who he called his “Dushi” (sweetheart) and his “Neshama” (soul). He was adored and respected as Pa, Opa, and Opa Opa by Mendy, Rhonda, and family; Doron, Warren, Nathan, and Ariella; Yaron, Nadav, Ilan, Matan, and Meital, and his personal caregiver Janelle.
He inculcated his Jewish pride, love of Israel, and commitment to Tikkun Olam in his family through his active participation in the community at Beth Tikvah Synagogue, as a leader within B’nei Brith in Curaçao and Toronto, as head of the Jerusalem Pavilion, and as a Freemason.
He was always ready with warm hugs and kisses for his family, best wishes for his friends, and kindness and respect for strangers. With a reminder that “recordar es vivír” (remembering is living), he eagerly told stories of his globetrotting adventures as an entrepreneur, and his early years in Romania, Trinidad, California, and Curaçao.
He will be profoundly missed, lovingly remembered, and deeply respected by his family and all who knew him.
