STANLEY M. GARDEN

He will be missed by nieces and nephews Barry Wasserzug (Jet), Bracha Wasserzug, David (Leah), Gary (Elise), Lori (Tom) Holiff, Janet Trachter, and his dearest friend, Heather Holden, whose loving presence was a true blessing in his life. Also, great nieces and nephews Jennifer, Joshua and Shira Wasserzug, Jacqui, Kelly and Alex Holiff. Great-great nieces and nephew Adele Panduki, Ava, Lilia, Nora and Lucy Grinhaus, Leo and Izzy Holiff.
Stanley was involved in real estate development most of his life (when he wasn’t off playing sports in his earlier years, or out dancing any time of the year!). He had charisma that matched his larger-than-life personality. He was kind, passionate, and cared deeply about people, having many friends who loved him as he loved them – too many to mention here, but you know who you are! A special thank you to his wonderful PSW caregiver and friend, Robert Hueston. Much gratitude also to the outstanding care from the 5A team of Toronto General Hospital. In lieu of flowers, if you care to make a donation in Stan’s memory, please consider a charity close to your heart or the Miles Nadal JCC (mnjcc.org).
The end of an era – Stan was always a gentleman, you would never find him without a suit jacket, usually also accompanied by snazzy tie, one of dozens (even while attending his beloved Blue Jays games). He held a door open regardless of gender, and always had a positive outlook along with encouraging words for those he met. Speaking of the Blue Jays, Stan had been a pitcher on the NY Yankees triple A Florida farm team, in the early 1950s, until his career in baseball was derailed by a shoulder injury. Always an athlete, he eventually took up handball, winning the 1967 World Doubles Handball championship. His passion for sports always continued. Stan attended most home games of the Blue Jays since 1977, first stopping at the Shopsy’s hot dog cart in front before going inside the stadium. It was a ritual we all looked forward to when he brought us to the games! Stan the Man, mayor of Yorkville, friend to all, passionate about life. We will miss you.
A celebration of Stan’s life will take place at a future date TBA.
