It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Andrew Meles, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and educator, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2026, in Toronto, Ontario, at the age of 79. Born on August 15, 1946, in Újpest, Hungary, Andrew’s journey through life was marked by an unwavering dedication to his family, a passion for teaching, and an enduring love for his roots.

Andrew’s early years in Hungary were shaped by the rich cultural heritage of his homeland. He often reminisced about the vibrant streets of Újpest, where he developed a love for learning and a curiosity about the world around him. His family instilled in him the values of hard work, kindness, and the importance of education—principles that would guide him throughout his life.

Andrew’s love for teaching was matched only by his devotion to his family. He married the love of his life, Luiza. Andrew was a father and father-in-law to Joshua (Orit), Anthony (Cathy), and Jordan (Taryn). As a grandfather with joy to seven grandchildren: Jessica, Carly, Alexa, Haley, Remy, Cody, and Shai.

Andrew Meles will be missed and remembered by his family and all who knew him. May his memory be a blessing
