With hearts full of sorrow, we announce the passing of Simon Benegbi on June 14, 2026.

Born in Tangiers, Morocco on March 9, 1931 to the late Moses and Esther Benegbi, Simon lived a full life centred around his profound love for his family. Simon was the family historian, a lover of music and dance, our favourite chef, and the person you could always count on to remember your birthday. We will miss him greatly as a source of knowledge, stability, laughter, and love, but are filled with gratitude for the time we had with him and the beautiful memories we carry with us.

Simon is survived by a large and loving family. He was a gentle and supportive father to children Joe, Esther, Donna, his son Jackie who he was heartbreakingly predeceased by, and his daughter in-law Lynn. He was an affectionate and ever-present grandfather to Jackie and wife Megan, Kathleen, Carmina, and Jake, as well as a proud great-grandfather to Kayden and Logan. Simon is also survived by his beloved siblings David, Ramy, Joseph, and brother in-law Jack, and his many nieces and nephews who he adored.

We extend our appreciation to the staff at Baycrest who provided Simon with love, care, and comfort during the final months of his life.
