Jonathan Allen Fishman (Oct. 2 1974 – Aug. 22 2026) passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in British Columbia on Saturday, August 22, 2026 (9 Elul 5786).

Beloved son of Esther Fishman and the late Howard Fishman. Devoted partner and soulmate of Derek Cheung. Cherished brother of Melissa Fishman (Mitzi Reinsilber) and loving uncle to Myles Fishman, Rachel Tang and Nicholas Tang. Son-in-law to Edith Chan, and brother-in-law to Bessie Cheung and Keith Cheung.

Jon loved the home he shared and the life he built with Derek. He had taken up gardening as a new hobby and took so much pride and joy in watching the trees and flowers he planted grow and bloom.

He was passionate about cars, both vintage and new, and thrived in his work as an automotive service advisor; He was in his element guiding customers on how best to maintain their vehicles. In doing so, he built many meaningful connections and friendships.

Jon’s favourite kind of vacation were cruises with Derek to sunny destinations. On these adventures, his good energy and genuine nature drew people to him, and he made friendships with people from all over the world.

Domestic life suited him well and he was equally happy at home spending time with Derek and their pup, Milo. Quiet nights spent watching TV and ordering food brought him just as much happiness as the adventures and travel.

Jon always made sure to check in on his friends, whether by calling, sending a text, or simply sharing a funny meme. His people also sought him out for words of wisdom and comfort, though he never hesitated to tell the hard truths when they needed to be heard.

Jon’s community of friends and family will miss him greatly.
