Harvey Lawrence Kalnitsky. In his 93rd year, beloved husband to the late Marcia Lee Kalnitsky (nee Litman), father and father-in-law to Sharon (Al) Schlesinger, Evan Kalnitsky, Michael (Julie) Kalnitsky, Howard (Abbie) Kalnitsky. Beloved Zaidy to Shane and Jessica Schlesinger, Mandi and Josh Korman, Jordanna, Sam, Melissa, Emily Rose, Molly and Baylie Kalnitsky.
We are so grateful that Zaidy Harve was able to meet his new great grandson, Chase Maxwell Korman. He brought a smile to his face, and love and joy to his life every day, with each new milestone, via FaceTime. When Chase said “Zaidy Harvey” the first time, that was everything to him.
Mandi and Josh and Shane and Jessica were thrilled that Zaidy was able to be part of their individual wedding ceremonies, and so was he!
Dad loved to golf and in his later years worked as a marshal at a golf course until the age of 88. He had to reluctantly give up his golf cart license, when he had too many fender benders.  He still continued to golf with his buddies when possible as long as they did the “driving”.
At one time, he was very involved in the Drama Club at Viva Thornhill, and had the opportunity to perform, showcasing his comedic timing with his peers. He loved a good book, a good joke, listening to music, classic old movies, was an avid crossword puzzle solver, and a trivia champion at Jeopardy every night on TV.
Dad never lost his sense of sarcastic humour right up to the day he left us. He was a character indeed! He would joke that at least he was a legend in his own mind.
A huge thank you to all the staff at Viva Thornhill Retirement Home, for your kindness, care and devotion to Dad. He really loved living there and made special friends, which added to his quality of life.
Thank you to private caregivers Yonida and Reggie, who took loving and meticulous care of Dad, to help make his life easier and more comfortable.
Thank you to Dr. Drue Mandel, who kept a very watchful eye on dad over the years to ensure his well-being.
Finally, thank you to all the staff at Valleyview Nursing Home and Dr.Shack, for your care of Dad, when things suddenly and unexpectedly became more challenging for him. You made sure he was treated with respect and dignity, as he wanted and always appreciated.
