To the family of Adam Litowitz: My heart is broken for you. I remember meeting Adam a number of times as a young boy with his wonderful late mother Malca...whom I knew from Hamilton days. She and her son seemed so devoted and now his father and family is berefit of him. He was a lovely sweet looking child and adoloscent. I could never get used to the fact that he called his mom 'Malca' and yet I saw a loving connection. I don't think that I ever met the rest of Adams's family. He was a bright boy and may your memories of him sustain you through this horrible tragedy. May you be comforted with all the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem and know no more sorrow. Adam was one of my first friends when I moved to Toronto in 2001. We were both still teenagers at the time. He stood out as being uncommonly good-natured, and he was always one of my favourite people to run into during the decade or so that I lived there. What I remember the most about Adam is laughing with him — every time we met, we somehow found something hilarious to laugh about. In the years since I left Toronto we didn't see each other as often, but we'd catch up sometimes when I'd visit. The last time we met was three years ago. We sat in a little place in Kensington, laughing as always at something hilarious. Only now I can't remember what it was. It seems there's nothing really I can say, except that when I visit Toronto again, it won't be the same city. My condolences go out to Adam's family and loved ones. I will miss you Adam, and you will be remembered.

Adam was one of the most openhearted and kind people I've ever met, and he made everyone who met him feel more openhearted and kind, too. Our entire community feels like they have lost a family member. I can only imagine the deep pain his family and those closest to him feel. He will be greatly missed by us all, and I hope that in this devastating tragedy his loved ones can take comfort in knowing how much happiness his friendship brought to so many.
