The funeral will be live-streamed on Sunday, April 10 at 1:00 p.m. at: https://smclive.ca/

If you’ve been exposed to COVID or display any symptoms, the family respectfully asks that you do not attend the funeral service nor the shiva. Please wear a mask during the service at the cemetery and at the shiva house while observing social distancing.

Weingarten, Alan on Thursday, April 7^th, 2022 at North York General Hospital, suddenly as a result of surgical complications. Loving husband and best friend of Ava. Devoted father of Brian (Sarah), Lisa (Vlad), and Jason (Jenny). Dear son of Grace and the late Ralph. Proud brother of Paul (Sharon) and Stephen (Fern). Kind brother-in-law to Avrum. Special uncle to many nieces and nephews and caring cousin to many. Alan was a respected pharmacist to countless loyal patients and was a long time member of the Etobicoke-Lakeshore community for over 35 years.

Alan was a quiet and caring gentleman who wanted to help out whenever the opportunity arose and had a keen sense of business. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. A special thank you to Dr. Michael Wyman who tried his best to revive Alan.

What a terrible shock. My condolences to the family and all who knew him. I have many fond memories of Alan - terrifying Ghostbusters viewings as a kid, watching him fiddle with his completely legit satellite TV system when I was a teen, and ultimately seeing the pride he took in watching Brian get married to Sarah. He will be missed.

Dear Ava and family. We were shocked and so sad to hear the tragic news. Alan was a very important part of our childhood. My sisters and I loved spending time with him during our visits to the Wilmington house. He was patient and so sweet with us. He had an infectious laugh and his eyes sparkled with his smiles. Today was one of those unfortunate days that U see the name of someone U might know in the newspaper, but u hope it’s just someone with the same name. But when I read this gentleman was a pharmacist I thot, sure, that makes sense, as Alan was easily one of the brightest kids in our grade. Then someone mentioned him as a student at Mackenzie, and then another about the house on Wilmington Ave. And my heart sunk. whereas a lot of clever kids wouldn’t lift an eyelid to help a poor dope like me, Alan the kind-hearted quiet soul that he was, would always be there to help me out and try to slip me a few answers. A very special guy who I was lucky enuf to count among my friends back then. May God grant all of Alan’s family and friends, strength during this difficult time.

I just came from Allen’s old shoppers and saw the notice on the door stating Alan had passed on. This is really shocking , I didn’t know Alan personally but just as the pharmacist for that location and he always treated my elderly mother and mother-in-law royally and even remember their first names. But I’m sure it’s not just them he was personable and helpful with everybody who came into the store. When he retired I’m pretty sure they were arrangements to look after his loyal customers, you can still see his ‘hand print’ all over the store. It’s a shame really another young guy passing on too early. Rest in peace Alan.
