Albert Reichmann

An incredible visionary, a pious man who conducted himself with the utmost in integrity and honour. Two qualities that are gone today,honour and integrity.

I had as a young man the honour and the pleasure to work for ‘Mr. Albert’ and his wonderful son Phillip, for an all too short of a period in the early ‘90’s. I learned much during my time there, not the least of which were lessons in humbleness and graciousness, and how the two are never out of place. I recall but one example where Mr. Albert had called me to his office to discuss a matter, when an assistant entered and whispered something into Mr. Albert’s ear. Mr. Albert turned to me, a new and relatively junior employee, and asked, ‘would you mind, Mr. Rose, if we continued our conversation later. It’s Mr. Gorbachev, and I really should take his call’. That was Mr. Albert. A man who gave definition to the meaning of mensch, and a man whose many lessons have never been forgotten by this once-upon-a-time young man. Thank you, Mr. Albert. May you rest in the peace you have so well earned and deserved. My deepest condolences to Mr.Albert’s family.

It was heartbreaking to hear the passing away of Mr. Albert. Mr. Albert was a visionary worldwide business leader, and a great philanthropist of dignity and unbending principle. As a new graduate, I was privileged to work for Mr. Albert in the 1990s and was struck immediately by the kindness he showed by his innate and genuine decency. Whenever I met him, he came across as a mentor rather than a boss. Even when I made mistakes no matter how serious it was, he would never blame. He would sit down with me to make sure I understood everything and find a path rather than simply telling me how to do it. I remember the time he travelled with us on many business trips just like a family patriarch. He took care of everyone and paid attention to the very details. I recall during one extended trip, he noticed my mood was down. He offered invite me and my girlfriend to a Kosher diner and chatted with us as a grandfather. His fully devotion to Judaism and being a role model which taught me a lots about moral stance and had great influence on me maybe lifetime. While nothing can replace the loss of Mr. Albert, we can rejoice in the fact that he permanently changed the city skylines all over the world and created great efficiency and pleasantness for working in a quality office building.
