Allen was such a warm and wonderful person, who put everyone at ease instantly. He was good-natured and always proud of his kids and genuinely interested in their friends. I remember how much he loved dogs (even our big, ill-mannered dog!) and more recently, the way his eyes lit up interacting with Nate. Dear Jill, so many long years ago, I had the pleasure of meeting Allen upon your family’s arrival in Canada. Coming to our Chabad of Markham for the very first time, I took the initiative of going over to greet him and welcome him to our community. Little did I know that that was to be the beginning of a beautiful, lasting and rewarding friendship. As the years rolled by, we became cycling and travelling buddies, first to Chicago, then Berlin, Dresden, Prague and Theresienstadt. We would talk, discuss, question, argue and then rediscover peace, harmony, laughter and deep-meaning friendship. Our common thread was our mutual participation in choir rehearsals and performances, not the least of which was our singing at the beautiful wedding of Simon and Ariel as we overlooked Lake Ontario. My text messaging is full of conversations between us, regular Shabbat Shalom and other humorous messages from Allen, or “Bloemie” as I called him. My heart aches at his passing. Rest in peace my dear friend. May the memory of dear Allen be a blessing to you Jill and all your family. My heartfelt condolences to you all. Totsiens Bloemie, Ek sal jou nooit vergeet nie. We did not meet Allen often during our Proforma business but when we did we thoroughly enjoyed our converstions and time spent with Allen. He will be missed by the many Canadian Proforma owners. He was always there to help any time someone needed information. We send our condolences to all of Allen's family. Cherish your memories as there are no doubt many.

My sincere condolences to Allen's family. I am shocked at the news. Allen was a kind, gentle soul that always gave his undivided attention to our conversations. Hello, I apologize for the late message, but I only just learned of Allen's passing and wanted to send my condolences to his family. I have worked with Allen at Proforma through Grey Wolf for a few years now and was so surprised to hear of his passing. Allen was always so kind and patient. He was a really special person and he will be missed. Sending condolences to the Stern family.
