Adrienne, Evan and Alexander may you be able to find laughter in your grief because Andrew had a wicked sense of humour! It is hard to lose a loved one but I hope there is some comfort there as well.

I was introduced to Andrew through my Father and Uncle - friends and business associates. I found a good friend in Andrew in 2016 and believe that Andrew found a good friend in me. Whether it was chatting endlessly about food, cars, business or life - I remember our interactions vividly. Despite his hard-on-the-surface demeanor, I discovered a warm and genuine person who always found time for a phone-call or a dim-sum meeting. I will truly and dearly miss Andrew and will hold-close his 'blunt and honest but menschy' style. May Andrew's memory be an eternal blessing.

I am really sorry to hear your sad news. I met Andy in 1981 when he had a coin shop, I believe on Yonge Street. I was not a usual customer and Andy was a very unusual dealer. My wife and I were in the process of restoring a 52,000 square foot, burned out, derelict building downtown that had been the head office of the Bank of Upper Canada. It was the oldest surviving Bank building in Canada and was the destination of the 1837 Rebellion. 1981 was in the midst of a financial crisis and bank prime rates reached 22 3/4%. We needed something to give away as a "teaser" to prospective tenants, bankers and people who showed an interest in the building so that they would know why it was important and what we were trying to achieve. The Bank had issued large attractive copper pennies in the 1850s and we wanted as many as we could get. I told Andy I needed a lot of them, and why. In an ordinary coin store the owner would have said he didn't have any, or he only had one, or five or whatever. Not Andy. He asked if i wanted to buy wholesale and he quoted me a very reasonable price per unit. He advertised throughout North America by teletype (this was long before the internet) and he came up with several hundred for us. It really made a difference to our project. That was almost 40 years ago but I remember all of it. He was smart, creative, open minded - and sympathetic to what we were trying to do. We feel great sympathy for you and your family in your loss.

I want to express how sorry I am for all your loss and to recognize that Andrew was loved by many.....he was a wonderful client and I considered him a freind ....he was generous and always great to visit with and have a occasional laugh......I am grateful he was part of my life and a supportive client of my business.....I will miss him very much!!!!
