Armand Vaisman unexpectedly passed away early in the morning of May 26 at age 88. He was the beloved husband of Zipora, father of Sivan, Iris, and Alon, and Father in law to Alaina and Amy. He was the loving saba of Benjamin, Daniel, Aviva, Adam, and Abigail. Predeceased by his brother Izu and sister Rosa, and mother Dvorah and father Elisha.

Armand was born in Iasi, Romania in 1936. His family miraculously survived the holocaust which Armand attributed  to the strength of the family, especially his father. Together, they rebuilt their lives after the holocaust and then escaped communist Romania to Israel. Once more they rebuilt. Armand loved Israel deeply and remained a passionate supporter until the day he died. In 1988, he moved once more, and rebuilt once more, this time in Canada, for a better life for his children.

He was an extremely dedicated father and teacher to his children. He found beauty in many places, especially in the natural world, and could never get enough of the mountains. He was passionate about classical music which brought him endless joy. He was a lifelong learner and was forever curious about science, history, language, astronomy, and philosophy. And he loved sharing this knowledge with his children, family, and friends.

He will be missed in many ways by those who knew and loved him.

Memorial donations may be made to the United Jewish Appeal.
