Arthur Isaac Chapkin at age 97 passed away peacefully on November 19, 2018 at Sunnybrook Veterans Centre. Beloved husband of Frances for 69 years, beloved Dad and father-in-law of David and Helen, Ellen and Lonnie, Robert and Laurie, Carole and Stewart. Beloved Zaidy of Alexandra Claire, Joshua, Jeffrey and Bonnie, Jonathan, Jason and Janna, Courtney and Kaveh, Wesley, Kyle, Elissa Rose, Corrine and Jon, Danielle and Mike, Brandon and Jamie. Great grand-Zaidy of Mia, Kaylie, Tyler and Ethan. Art was a Mechanical Engineer proud to have worked for A.I. Chapkin and Associates, and the Government of Ontario. Throughout his life Art was a sportsman, playing baseball, handball, tennis and golf. He was a Life Master at bridge, and won awards at the Royal York Hotel. Fondly remembered by the residents of Gates of Bayview and Amica Thornhill. Funeral to take place at Steeles Memorial Chapel, 350 Steeles Ave. West, Thornhill, on Sunday, November 25 at 1 pm. Shiva at 1 Kingsbridge Circle, Thornhill, Sunday, November 25 from 7-9 pm; Monday, November 26 from 2-5 pm and 7-9 pm; and Tuesday, November 27 from 2-5 pm and 7-9 pm. Art was a lover of nature and people. In his memory, you may wish to plant deciduous trees or make a donation to a charitable organization.
