Arthur Stein (Steinwortzel)

STEIN (STEINWORTZEL), ARTHUR. Peacefully and with dignity, on March 14, 2021, at age 93. Beloved husband of the late Eleanor (Skulko) Stein. Dear son of the late Alexander and Anna. Loving father and father-in-law of Sharon and Jeff, and Brenda and Ophir. Beloved Zadie of Jennifer, Lani, Mitchell, Alyse and Benji. Deeply loved and admired by all who knew him. Thank you to all the wonderful staff of One Kenton Place for the extraordinary care provided to our beloved father.

Memorial donations may be made to One Kenton Place, by cheque, c/o Nanette Climans at 1 Kenton Drive, North York, M2R 2H6.

Dear Brenda, Ophir, Sharon, Jeff, Jenni, Lani, Mitchell, Alyse and Benji, Your dad/Zadie was an absolute gem and gentleman. He was so lucky to have all of you in his life as you were to have him. Dear Brenda, Ophir, Jenny, Mitch, Benji and Sharon, Jeff, Lani and Alyse – How blessed you are to have had such a wonderful father, father-in-law and Zadie. I remember first meeting Arthur over 24 years ago at Bishop Scalabrini childcare Centre when he would bring Jenny & Lani (and later the others) to the program. He was such a loving, kind, attentive Zadie and I marveled at the joy it brought him simply being in the presence of his grandchildren. Later, as years went by, I have vivid memories of your dad at hockey games with his head pressed against the glass, beaming with pride as he watched Mitch do his stuff on the ice. He loved his family dearly and I know how special he was to each one of you. Our hearts go out to you on your loss. We know your wonderful memories will be shared, celebrated, and treasured. To the Family of Arthur Steinwortzel, my condolences from my Family. I had the opportunity to introduce my children to Arthur, when Arthur lived at Amica and he was always happy to see us. For the few years that I worked with Arthur, he always gave compassionate advice to me, something that was rare and today is hard to find. I also, recall the day that Joel Weiser had his bar mitzvah and I was lucky to sit next to Eleanor and Arthur in Synagogue. That day they taught me that everything is up to interpretation and that people do not always have to agree. All positive memories that will never be forgotten. Not only was he a true gentleman but the best artist in the class. I am still trying to emote his style of painting but somehow can't seem to get there .Once again , so sorry for your loss . Dear Sharon, Brenda and families, So sorry to hear of the passing of your beloved father. I remember seeing him coming for dinner on a Friday night Sharon (sometimes even with a lady friend) . What a handsome gentleman he was. He was such an amazing artist and a much loved grandfather. Sharon, both you and sister always made sure that his needs were being looked after both at Amica and Kenton Place.. Take joy in all the memories that you shared with him. Dear Sharon, Brenda and families, Eddie and I would like to extend our condolences on the passing of a wonderful man, your father. I remember seeing him come to your house Sharon for Shabbat dinner (sometimes even with a lady friend). He was such a handsome gentleman and a very talented artist. Both of you always made sure that his needs were being met both at Amica and later on Kenton Place. Find joy in all of the wonderful memories that you shared throughout the years.

I was just thinking about Arthur and decided to look him up. We had lost touch about 15 years ago. I am so sad to see he has passed. Arthur studied drawing with me in various places where I used to teach. From the Anold house to the Seniors group. What a lovely and kind man he was. And what a joy to teach! I learned from him as much as he from me. I will always be grateful for his support and encouragement in the early days as I was only a teenager teaching a bunch of seniors... and he showed me the same respect he showed everyone else. In later years he helped with the accounting for the group and helped to keep it going. I think he even purchased some of my art. The world is a better place because he had been here. May his memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved him. Condolences to his family. I know he is very much missed.
