Nanette, Daniel, Bradley, Katie and Gladys, my already broken heart weeps for you. Benji and I go back to our days as teenagers in Montreal. When he was around, there was always laughter and fun. He was very brave on this so unfair journey. Please take comfort in the love he had for each of you. Rest peacefully Benji from Montreal, I will miss you.

Nannette, Daniel and Bradley. There are no words of comfort at this time. I only knew Benji as kind, considerate and happy person. Nannette, we know the last several years were beyond difficult for you and the kids. Our hearts goes out to you during this very difficult time. Dear Nanette, Daniel, Bradley and families, we go back such a long time. Remembering Daniel and Bradley as very young children. I always remember the love and respect that Benjie and Nanette showed one another. I was envious of this beautiful relationship. I worked with Ben at CFTR in the early 1980s. Along with being a great pro, he was kind and generous and always had a twinkle in his eye. I never forgot him and never will. My condolences on his passing.

Nan/boys - I'm so sad to hear about Benjy's passing. I just found out from Pam Gordon who called me. Benjy and I go back to when we were 4 or 5 years old playing on the street in Cote Saint Luc where we lived one block from each other. Then Yiddish School at Peretz. Billy Wine and I had the pleasure of taking him for smoked meat at Centre Deli a few years ago you may recall when he was still more less mobile. I'm so grateful we made that happen when I was in Toronto briefly. My heart goes out to you guys and the extended family. For once, I'm at a loss for words. He was one of my closest friends. A heart of gold, and always the one to find the humor in every situation. Benjy kept me laughing through some difficult times. I hope did not suffer too much the last few days. I think the last time you and I spoke was during the pandemic when I was in Montreal. He was in the hospice if I recall and you went regularly to visit him though you were not allowed in the room. As we say in Yiddish his gutte neshuma will live on in the boys everyone he touched, and great credit to you Nan for taking care of him and being an outstanding wife through thick and thin. I worked with Ben at CFTR and am very sad to learn that he's gone, although I know he was suffering. I always admired his talent and ability. He had a great sense of humour and was a talented broadcaster and we did some outstanding work together. I thought the world of him and he will be greatly missed.

Ben was one of my very favourite people as a colleague and friend. We had many great times together with Ben and Nanette and I miss him greatly. He was ebullient, creative -- a brilliant writer and newsreader and a star at CFTR in its greatest days. But most of all he was a great friend and will ever be. R.I.P. Ben.

We cherish all the great memories we had as next door neighbours on Cavendish. Dear Nanette, I'm so sorry to hear of Ben's passing. As you know I had the distinct honour of working with your incredible husband for many, many years at CFTR and CHFI. He was always the consummate professional. I'm sure the last few years have not been easy for you, your family and Ben. Please accept our most sincere condolences. May he rest in peace

I will forever be grateful for Ben coming into my life. In the fall of 1987, I was in 2nd year Ryerson RTA and had to find an internship in the field. Ben was the ONLY person to say yes. I don’t know how many letters I had sent out but I can assure you that CHFI (the old person’s station) was the last place I wanted to work. (I went on to work there 34 years). We settled on a date: Mon, Oct 19. I met him that afternoon and he was frazzled. He met me, pointed me in the direction of the news room and in a hurry as he marched away, simply said “the stock market is crashing.” My first day in broadcasting was Black Monday. Soon after I got a part time position as an ‘op’ working weekends and overnights. Years later I became the morning show producer alongside Ben himself doing the news. Crazy!! One morning his didn’t print so he did his full newscast and sports from memory! I’ve never seen anyone do that since! After a few years on the morning show, I met my future wife through a station promotion. We’ve gone on to have 3 kids who are all now around the age I was when I met Ben. As you get older, you realize how random the good fortune is in your life. Had Ben not given me this chance, I’d have never had that rewarding career at CHFI. More importantly, I’d have never met my future wife, never would have had these incredible children. My life, in large part, has been fulfilled because I worked at CHFI, and the ONLY reason I worked there was because Ben said yes to this 21 year old punk 35 years ago. I will forever be grateful that he came into my life, and for the doors he opened for me. I am so very sorry for your loss. RIP Ben

Ben was an absolute gem of a man. I am so sorry and greatly saddened to hear of his passing. Please accept my condolences. I was a radio workmate of Ben's for some years. Ben was the best news announcer CHFI ever had and I was proud to work with him on the morning show and Sunday night. He was always joking and smiling and was a real professional at everything he did.

I just found out about my pal Benji’s passing. He was a very close friend but we drifted after he moved away, then me. I have so many fond memories and hope he’s smiling and still yapping on air up there. Lots of love. I miss you buddy.
