It is with great sorrow and gratitude for a long, full life that we recognize the passing of Berry Amato on September 25th, 2023 at 11:20pm. She passed peacefully surrounded by her children, Sabrina, Bertie and Adrienne. She was a devoted mother to Sabrina and Brian, Bertie and Karen, and Adrienne. A loving grandmother to Lisa and Chris, Natalie and Ben, Lauren and Mike, Alec, and Rebecca. Great grandmother to Maya, Annie and Jonah, and Mia Bree. Always a nurturing sister to Malcolm and Betty, Roy and Anne, Hilary and Leslie, and Jeffrey. Berry had an indomitable spirit and was always there for her loved ones. She was a woman of many passions and talents who made a lasting impression on all who met her. She had a strong life force which was evident throughout her life as a teenager who went to University at age 16, to leaving South Africa on her own to start a life with Alec in Zimbabwe, to immigrating to Canada and beginning life again, to most recently battling delirium and dementia. Throughout it all, Berry did it with strength, resilience, humour, and determination. Go in peace Berry with the knowledge that you have made a significant impact on all you have touched and know that you are loved and remembered.
