Betsy (Dale) Fruitman

It is with the deepest sorrow and grief that we must announce the passing of our adored Betsy Fruitman, beloved Wife (of the late), Lou Fruitman, Mother, Bubbie, sister and friend on January 8th, 2021. The stars and sun will shine less brightly as the center of our Universe has been forever dimmed.

Betsy will be forever missed by her daughters, Pamela (& Howie Gould), Lisa Fruitman and Marla (& Ronald Struminger), her 6 grandchildren, Amanda, Jeffrey, Jason, Jarod, Phoebe & Joshua, her sister, Lynda Wine, all of her family and friends and anyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

She now joins the love of her life, Lou, and her parents David & Mary Dale in heaven, watching over all of us.

If we had to describe Betsy in one word it would be IRREPLACEABLE.

The abundance of love she had to give: IRREPLACEABLE
Her devotion to her husband and children: IRREPLACEABLE
Her devotion to her parents: IRREPLACEABLE
Her commitment to helping others: IRREPLACEABLE
Her ability to know just what to say and do: IRREPLACEABLE

To say that she will live on in our hearts is an understatement. The permanent imprint that she has left on so many lives will help us carry on without her. Her great beauty, laughter, courage through many difficulties, tenacity and strength are forever embodied within her children and grandchildren. Because of Betsy, we are all and will be, better people. Our loss is tremendous but our gratitude for having been loved by Betsy, knows no bounds.

I am at a loss for words with the death of my friend Ms Betsy. I love her and was so honoured to be able to call her a friend. I will miss her laughter, her words of wisdom and her unconditional way of caring and acceptance of many people. Ms Betsy you have touched so many peoples lives! I have known Betsy since we were at Camp Yungvelt, as campers. We have always been long time friends. I remember going by train to Hamilton, when she was confirmed. We would see each other at our camp reunion dinners. Ironically, her parents’ tombstone are facing my parents’s stones, in The Workmen Circle cemetery, on Roselawn. Will miss your sunny smile. Betsy and Lou generously supported Reena from the start, despite not having a family member in need of its services. Betsy truly understood the meaning of Tzedukah and derived tremendous nachas from watching her children and grandchildren participate in the milestone events for the building. This is my sincere condolences to all of the Fruitman family. I have known the family for more than 40 years on a personal basis. Having said goodbye to many of the people that I have loved, including parents, cousins, aunts, uncles and even a child, I have learned that there are no words of comfort other than to make it know that you share in the grief. My father died when I was thirteen and I learned then, that no amount of tears, lamenting and praying would bring him back. All we have are the memories of that part of life which we had shared together. Aside from the professional relationship that Lou and Betsy and Lisa and I had shared, Betsy and Lou were my mentors on many travels of theirs which I had the joy of sharing during our decades together.
