The world is a little less vibrant.  We are sad to announce the passing of Betty (Beulah) Gotlieb (nee Clayman) at the age of 97.  Betty was a loving wife to Seymour for 10 years; and Sam for 48.   Betty was a loving (and loved) mother to Ricki (Bernie) Letofsky, Howell (Liane Sharkey) Gotlieb and Ilene (Sid) Zelewicz.   She was proud to be Bubbie to Simon (Jessica) Sharkey-Gotlieb and Zachary Zelewicz and step-grandmother to Tyler Letofsky, Rebecca Zelewicz and David Zelewicz.  Betty lived a full life on her own terms – fiercely independent, she forged a unique path for a woman of that era, which included being a WWII RCAF veteran, extensive travelling across North America and moving with her girlfriend to New York City, where she first met Seymour.  A spirited and energetic woman with a keen sense of humour, she loved baseball, musicals and casinos.  Her joie de vivre was evident always.  She embraced all she could from life with a true spark that remained until the end. She will be missed each and every day by all who knew her. A special thank you to the wonderfully caring and supportive staff at Sunnybrook Veteran’s Wing (K2W). Memorial donations may be made to the Sunnybrook Hospital Veteran’s Wing 416-480-6100, or to the charity of your choice.
