With great sadness we announce the passing of Bronia “Bronka” Fialkov after a life filled with challenges, accomplishments and vicissitudes.  Born in pre-war Bilgoraj, Poland in 1928, she escaped with her family to central Asia only steps ahead of the Nazi invasion. After the war and an arduous trip back to Poland she enrolled in the University of Breslau, where she met her future husband, Gershon Fialkov z”l.  After the war she emigrated to the nascent State of Israel, enrolled in medical school, rekindled their relationship and married Gershon.

To support a growing family in a challenging time she left medical school to qualify and start working as a registered nurse. After emigrating to Canada, she continued working as a nurse during the summers at Camp Shomria in Perth Ontario.  Inheriting the skills and talents of her father, Abraham Bromberg z”l, she went on to graduate from the Ontario College of Art (OCAD) and became a member of the Sculpture Society of Canada.

Devoted, artistic, intelligent and strong, Bronia will be dearly missed by her children: Harry (Karen) and Jeff (Laura) , her grandchildren: Josh (Audrey), Ben, Shani (Tyler) , Ari and Pippa. She was blessed to have known her great grandchildren: Theo and Nora. She is predeceased by her loving daughter Eynat z”l.
