Rosenblum, Cantor Martin. Holocaust survivor. Passed away on February 1, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of Marilyn. Loving and devoted father and father-in-law of Joel Rosenblum, Melanie Rosenblum and Howard Abraham. Cherished Zaidy of Leah and David. He will be sadly missed by his niece Linda (Mel) Kochberg, and nephew Barry Rich, family and friends. Predeceased by sister Helen Rich, and brother-in-law Zenek Rich. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at 12:30 p.m. at Steeles Memorial Chapel, 350 Steeles Ave. West, Thornhill. Memorial donations may be made to North York General Hospital Foundation, c/o Freeman Centre for the Advancement of Palliative Care 416-756-6944 (nyghfoundation.ca)

Cantor Rosenbloom was a large part of youth in Adath Shalom Shule. My memories of Shule and prayer always turn back to that time in my life. His rendition of Hineni was always so moving it brings tears to my eyes thinking about it. He was also there when I had said my Bat Mitzvah prayers in my 20's. My thoughts and prayers go out to your family.

Melanie, Howard, Joel and Family --I wish to extend my condolences on the passing of your beloved father, Martin. May his memory be for a blessing. Cantor Joe z'l and Martin were best friends for so many years. Martin was a great scholar and good friend to all who knew him and loved him. The bond between his beloved Marilyn and himself was incalculable. His love and devotion to Marilyn knew no bounds. Theirs was truly a beautiful love story. I am sorry that I shall be unable to attend the funeral since I am in Florida, but I want you to know that my thoughts are with you, and I hope that the love and respect that Martin received from all those who knew this kind and gentle soul, will in some small measure alleviate your pain. To Marilyn and family, I am shocked to hear of Martin's passing. It is very difficult to believe as over many years of Adath Shalom membership he was always there for us. As my family were members of Adath Shalom for many years, I have only fond memories of how Cantor Rosenblum lead our congregation through services. On a more personal level, the Cantor officiated at both my Bar Mitzvah and my wedding, so he played a significant part in two of the most memorable moments of my life. My deepest sympathies to the Cantor's family on your loss.

Dear Family of Cantor Martin Rosenblum, I am so sorry to hear about "Motel's" passing. You probably don't remember me, but I grew up with your father and have so many fond memories of him. My mom and Helen were best of friends and Motel and Marilyn were always part of our extended family. He was a gentle soul and I always enjoyed his beautiful voice. Dear Melanie and Joel: What a sad day. Your dad was like one of our family for so many years. I can still remember him chasing Joel on his tricycle around the downstairs hall at the Adath Shalom. The tire marks are probably still there. And so many years later, Leah would be crawling in and out of the railing posts on the bimah while listening to zaidy's beautiful voice. I was there when your dad auditioned for the position of chazzan in our shul back in 1966 and was thrilled when he accepted the job. From that year, and for more than thirty-five years after, we worked together to develop an amazing choir, which I was honoured to direct for almost all those years. He was forever collecting, arranging and presenting the most beautiful music for our services and holiday concerts. When my dad was taken ill, your mom and dad hardly ever missed their Wednesday afternoon visits to Sunnybrook to help brighten those days. I sincerely regret not being able to pay my respects at the shiva house. Walking and I have parted company, and stairs are no longer on my "to do" list. But my heartfelt thoughts go out to you and your family. I'll remember all the good times, as I'm sure you will, too.

Condolences to the Rosenblum family. Cantor Rosenblum was a big part of my teen years, teaching me Jewish choral liturgical music, singing all 4 parts and eventually conducting at the Adath Shalom. Helping me with my bar Mitzvah. Giving me the opportunity to participate in so many ways. Delivering the parsha commentary. Blowing Shofar. Honoured lynn and I with the Sheva brachit at our wedding dinner. A good friend of our family. A kind and gentle man. He will be missed by all who came to know him.

Dear Melanie and Joe and Marilyn: What a huge loss . from age 12-14, him and i were ultra close, he was my duo partner for end of shabbes services, every week, I can still remember his beaming smile after my bar mitzvah. Dear Marilyn, Joel, Melanie & Family. I've been away and just found out about Martin. How devastating for all of you. We have such fond memories. The years Brena handed out candies to break the fast and then her children continued the tradition with Martin beaming from the beema. The Bat Mitzvah he helped 12 beautiful ladies prepare for. It was such an accomplishment and such a mitzvah for all of us. His singing with our choir at High Holidays was done with such feeling. He will be missed. Take care of each other. May his memory be for a blessing.
