Our deepest condolences to the Kochman family. I worked with Chuck in the mid 1990’s to develop a Blue Jays baseball card promotion for a bakery I was working with at the time. The consummate professional, and all class. I knew his brother Irv. He was also a long time patient of my wife at the dental office she worked at. He was truly the ultimate artist, his lifetime body of work creating endless memories. He will be truly missed. May your cherished memories of him help you get through this most difficult time.

When I read on Facebook about Chuck’s death I was just so sad. He was one of those people that just made you feel good to be around him. He was my favourite customer when I worked at the bank at Yorkdale during my university years and then we reconnected many years later through the events scene. He was my go to person. And he never said no to me. I truly valued our friendship and I’m sorry we didn’t get a chance to say good bye. My sincere condolences Irv. I know how your will miss him. . When I first met him when I was nine years old at Blue Jays spring training we instantly bonded. Chuck and I would chat on the phone for hours every day and he made me the person I am today. I dated Chuck 36 years ago. We met when I hired System 4 Productions to shoot photos for a cosmetics company. Chuck was great to work with and eventually asked me out on a date. Early in our relationship, Chuck told me he had become a good luck charm for the women he dated who always seemed to marry the next guy who came along after him. He was right. And I did. However, while my marriage did not last, my friendship with Chuck did. For more than three decades we continued to talk, email and see each other regularly. We always said, “Love you,” to each other before we got off the phone. My Dear Chuck… You struggle and suffer no more. I will miss your warmth, your loving friendship, your disarming sense of humour and your wishes every year without fail on my birthday, and every Jewish holiday for, "Happy Everything." My daughter and I always looked forward to saying hi to him at the game while he was in the media pit. My condolences to Irv and all of the Kochman family. Chuck will truly be missed.

I first met Chuck in 1967 in the Vanier Common Room on my second day at York University. About a month ago, shortly after I moved, we talked on the phone and discovered that we were living in the same "hood". I called him last week to arrange a get-together but he never called back. Now I know why. In our 56-year long friendship (intermingled with an actual date every 15 years or so), it didn't seem to matter how much time went by without talking or seeing each other, because when we did, it seemed like no time had passed, and our love for each other never lessened. Chuck will always own a piece of my heart.

Irv I've had a lot of laughs, a lot of meals, a lot of schmoozing time with Chuck over the years. He was, as everyone knows, a gem of a guy. The stories I am reading about Chuck do not surprise me. He made a huge impression on everyone he met. He had a way of quietly showing his sincerity and humility. I always felt so comfortable around him. We met in 1991 at Spring Training and later he helped advise me with a Charity Celebrity Baseball Tournament. We last spoke about 4 years ago and I promised him we'd get together. The Lockdown and my wife's constant hospitalizations got in the way. How I wish I'd made a better effort. He was worth it. It would have enriched my life. But knowing Chuck, he would have made me feel like I was enriching his. I will never forget you Chuck. Your life was well lived and you will be missed by more people than you ever thought possible.

Baruch Dayan HaEmet. The posts on this site attest to a man who played an important role in the lives of many. I first met Chuck when I entered the gates of Kibbutz Hatzor in December 1969. Chuck was one of three Toronto people who were volunteers on the Kibbutz. Along with Marty and Arthur, these three were the veterans who provided advice and guidance to the newcomers who had enrolled in the Ulpan program. One of my vivid memories of Chuck at the Kibbutz was his ownership of a razor- com - scissors that he used to give very poor haircuts. The four of us left the Kibbutz in April 1970 for a week’s stay in Greece; A day or so in Athens and the rest in Corfu. The most significant memory of our time in Corfu was the day that we rented motor bikes. Our inexperience with these bikes resulted in 4 separate accidents, with varying degrees of damage to our bodies. We 4 then made our way to Geneva and on to Amsterdam (Marty and I) before flying to Toronto through NYC’s Kennedy airport. I did not have contact with Chuck until many years later meeting him at Jay’s games where Chuck was working as a photographer. May Chuck’s memory be for a blessing.

Chuck and I first shared an apartment balcony and bonded over each others' too loud music & relaxing treats. Quickly we became fast friends and together shared much over the next 10 years -Vonnegut, Patti Smith, Kozinski - travels to Jamaica (Hedonisms, both I and II), several Club Meds and a month touring Israel. I had the pleasure of introducing him to various women in both Toronto & Montreal. We supported each other as we worked to figure out our lives. Chuck didn't deserve the pain of his later years. He was too nice a guy for that. I will miss him forever.

We were both teenagers when I met Chuck. He had a big impact on my life, making me laugh at my saddest time, and encouraged me to pursue my art. Chuck asked me three questions, do you have food on the table, clothes on my back, a roof over my head, helping to shift my perspective and not dwell on the negative. Although he was not a blood relative, he was always "Uncle Chuck" to me. He could light up a room with his sense of humour, which he never lost even throughout his pain in his final years. He shot beautiful photos of me as a kid when my choir sang at the SkyDome and then for my Bat Mitzvah. He later supported and encouraged me in my interest in photography in high school. I'm sorry we never got to go for lunch in the end. He will be missed. May his memory be a blessing.

Chuck Kochman, I can still see that big smile and you walking the halls of Rogers Centre. It was truly a Blessing to have known you and to have worked with you all those years. I will never forget the late-night chats and the way you could take a long and frustrating day and make it change within seconds into a positive. Dear Irv I am sorry that I did not get to speak to you today at The memorial for chuck.I was late for the service and got caught up with Chuck's many friends from The Blue Jays in the rear of the room.WhenI got up to the front A gentleman asked me are you coming to the cemetery? So I knew that I had missed you..Our family all knew you brother, Michelle Michael and Brendan and offer their condolences.Chuck did an incredible job when our son Michael got married and spent the day with his good friends Paul Beeston and Herb Solway.We have memorable and cherished pictures taken by your brother which adorn the walls of our homes in Toronto Muskoka and Pinehurst N.C Again apologies Irv for not getting to speak with you,Your brother was a special person to me and our family and Vicky Mckee and me were talking about him just a few weeks ago.I am glad that I got to meet him and was glad that he was my friend Condolences Be well Paul Williams and family

Dear Irv and family, Michael and I are so sorry for the loss of our dear Charlie. He and I go back 65 year to our tines on Deevale. As teens, he was my plus one and I was his! He and Michael became friends at York and he was supposed to fix us up on a date. Fortunately we connected without his intervention, cause he procrastinated. We have many wonderful memories over so many decades! We will miss his warmth, his humour his positive approach to problems and concerns. He was a bright light and will always have a place in our hearts!

Just learned of Chuck's passing. Chuck and I were in university together in the late 1960's and shared many laughs in the Vanier common room at York University. I ran into him from time to time since then and he always impressed me as a good-natured person with a kind heart and a gift of the entrepreneurial spirit. Chuck and I were friends at Downsview High School. First year University, we became roommates at Waterloo U. with Jerry Greenglass and although I don't remember much of those days, I do remember Chuck's proudest accomplishment. Chuck never attended 1 class the entire year. Chuck, I am still proud of your unique accomplishment. R.I.P. my friend.

Condolences to Irv and his Family from Donna and Peggy (nee Priolo) who lived just across and down from Kochman Family. Our family loved Kockman family and knew Charlie and Irving in those days of living the good life. Our brother Carmin was closer to age I believe however we attended Downsview Collegiate Institute together. We remember well, all the amazing neighbours and special friends made in those years. Kochman Family will always be remembered as loving and kind and great neighbours. Deevale Road is in our hearts forever.

So terribly sorry to hear of Chucks passing. Condolences to Irving and his family and the whole Kochman family Great photographers and great fellas who worked from the heart. I have Chuck's autograph in the DDS year book Opus 9, 1964. He gave my son Mike, a copy of his famous photo of Joe Carter hitting the winning ball for the world series. I told my son of Chuck's passing and he said "Damn". Rest in peace Chuck . Forever in our thoughts .

Irv, Melanie and family I was so surprised and so saddened to see this news today I am in tears! I'm sorry we weren't more in touch during the past 30 years. The time I spent working with you guys in 1991/92 was extremely valuable and formative. I learned a lot and it became a cornerstone of my business. I still work with AGT, with Mendl and with the Blue Jays. It's really unbelievable. All the Kraft sports programs we did with NHL players-Chuck always made the shoots go smoothly and everyone felt welcomed. I met Chuck the first time I walked into the Skydome to photograph the Blue Jays. He could have easily ignored me and concentrated on his craft. Instead, he was engaging, helpful and became a friend. At the end of each season there was a warm handshake and embrace from Chuck wishing me well until we met again. RIP Chuck. You were one of a kind.

A young photographer I was inspired to work these 2 amazing photographers. This was the day a friendship started. Later in life I worked with the 2 greats again on projects like the Conn Smythe Dinner Awards. Chuck you were an inspiration and my carrier as a photographer is a reflection of this. It’s Tuesday February 6, 2024. I saw a post about Blue Jays, which made me think of Charlie. I googled his name, and was shocked to learn of his death. I met Charlie when I was “12” years old. He became my best friend. We spent endless time together either in person, or on the phone for many years. Our lives took a turn when I married in 1970 and moved to Hamilton. He was at my wedding, and then several decades past until we spoke briefly on the phone, and another time, saw him for the first time since my wedding, at a Blue Jay game. My son unexpectantly, met and worked with him on a project, which was uncanny. I’m so very sorry we never had a further chance to reconnect. My sincere sympathy to Irv and his family. May your memories be a blessing. Charlie was truly loved by many.
