The tragic loss of Daniel, leaves us all in profound sorrow. In my first year teaching at Tanenbaum Chat, I had the privilege of having Daniel as my Talmud student. Despite coming from different worlds and ways of life, Daniel's extraordinary personality made it effortless to bridge these differences. His intellect was nothing short of brilliant, always accompanied by a kind smile, and above all, he was original and possessed an unusually vivid imagination. Daniel was the kind of student every teacher dreams of having in their class. He consistently posed deep, thoughtful questions and offered original answers, all while exhibiting an endless desire to expand his knowledge further. I remember feeling both surprised and delighted when he told me of his decision to pursue design studies in London. Daniel was a pioneering spirit, captivated by the world around him, eager to explore it with his insatiable curiosity. His absence leaves a deep void in the hearts of everyone who knew him—teachers and friends alike. Carol and Steve, you raised an amazing son. In the times I saw Daniel since CHAT, I remember the excitement hearing about his life in London and reliving old inside jokes and memories. Dear Charkow family, While I did not officially teach Daniel, I was devastated to learn of your loss. As an art teacher at CHAT, I spent many lunch hours hanging out with him and his art crew in the art room. His friendly, warm nature and his creative risk-taking really made him stand out. After he graduated, I enjoyed following him on social media, cheering him on as he pursued his dreams while he studied and worked abroad. I can't imagine the hole left in your hearts by his tragic and sudden passing, but I wish you find some comfort hearing about what a huge impact Daniel left on so many he touched during his far too short life.

I am Oliver Daniel's mom, Robin, and he and Daniel were classmates at Bialik. I just learned of this horrific news and am in shock and my heart is broken for you all. It was clear that Daniel embraced who he was from an early age, which impressed me greatly, and his significant talent in shoe design indicated that he would go far. Sending my condolences to the entire Charkow family. I knew Daniel from Camp Kadimah. I don't remember why or how, but we all called him "Chops". Chops was such a great friend at camp, he always treated everyone with respect and dignity. I would look forward to watching Chops do an aerial in front of the camp when he would win an award at Mifkad. The entire camp would chant his name! Even when Chops did not spend summers at camp, I would think of him every Mifkad, since no one could live up to his gymnastics skills!

To the Charkow family, my heart is absolutely broken. I have known Daniel since we were kids and became friends at Camp Kadimah. For our few summers together in Kochot we were attached at the hip. I have such fond memories of our times together at camp, and I am lucky to have stayed in contact with Daniel as he pursued his passion in the fashion industry. From our yearly meets ups in Toronto, to our brief four days together in London, my memories with Daniel are so full of joy and I will cherish them forever. I am a better person for having known Daniel. Growing up alongside each other was a joy. At both Bialik and CHAT, he was always so authentically himself. He was incredibly kind, creative, passionate, and fun to be around. Daniel will be deeply and profoundly missed.

Dear Charkow family, I was devastated to hear this terrible news. My fondest memories from CHAT include Daniel. We would spend all of our lunches and free time hanging out in the art room, making up dances or listening to ridiculous Phantom of the Opera parodies. Daniel was an incredibly talented artist, and I remember I would always ask for his feedback on my work. I was especially grateful to him for helping me put together my portfolio for my university applications. Dear Carol and Steven, Josh and family, We are deeply saddened by the news of the sudden passing of your beloved son Daniel. We cannot imagine the deep and insurmountable pain you must all be feeling. I knew Daniel for his outstanding creativity, vibrancy, and the unique, outside-the-box lens through which he viewed the world. He was a force of unbelievable talent, and his shoe designs (and Halloween costumes!) were always inventive and impressive. Outside of his craft, he was also a kind, genuine person who always made anyone he was with feel welcome and comfortable. Our community in Toronto is less colourful without him. I am so grateful I got to know Daniel during Bar-Mitzvah lessons at the Village Shul and for a few years at CHAT, and I am so sorry for this horrible loss.

Dear Charkow family Our son was a class mate of Daniels throughout Bialik and Chat . One day i picked up Dean from school and noticed the cool shoes Daniel was wearing .Dean commented , oh mom Daniel is a shoe designer he designed them. I was just amazed . I am so sorry for your immense pain and grief . May his memory be a blessing

Carol, Steve & Josh...words are not enough to tell you how deeply shocked, saddened and devastated we all are by this tragic event. I feel lucky to have known such a brilliant, funny, creative and special human being such as Daniel. Our deepest condolences and prayers for all of your family. He was a shining star that will live forever in all the hearts he touched. I am so terribly sorry.

Daniel, the fashion world has truly lost a creator, an innovator, a master crafter . Rest in peace my friend. You will be dearly missed. RW.
