Dear Morris and Willie: I have known your mother for many years. She was always there for you both. I was invited to her house for a Passover meal on one occasion. She catered to you. Willie and Morris. Your mother and my mother Wicia were long time friends. Both they and their husbands were newcomers together practically right off the boat, and spoke very often. I will always remember your mom at the old store, and how kind she was to all of us. Friends were the only family the “greenies” knew. It’s sad to hear of her passing, as this chapter of the book on survivors slowly comes to it’s conclusion and soon they will all be gone. May her memory be blessing to you.

Benjamin Hackman

Auntie Dina was a sweet, good-humoured woman. I have many fond memories visiting her as a little boy. Much has been written on the death of the Yiddish language, but relatively little has been written on the death of the Yiddish accent. Dina had a rich and beautiful accent, an accent that ed me from the present to the old world of Europe, and always made me feel connected to something much bigger than myself--a tradition, a family, a lineage, a people.
