David Aaron Rechtsman passed away peacefully and with great dignity on Friday September 12th, 2025 in the presence of family at the age of 77. He was a loving and devoted father and husband of 51 years.  He was showered with love by his seven grandchildren and especially enjoyed feeding them when they were babies, being referred to as the “baby whisperer” because of how quickly they calmed down in his arms.

He was the son of Philip and Rene Rechtsman, both Holocaust survivors. This affected him very deeply and he raised his children with the strong values of family, humility and hard work.

Professionally, he was an engineer who appreciated good design – a partner in Greenpark Homes, a company co-founded by his father, Philip Rechtsman with his long time partners Carlo Baldassarra and Jack Wine. He helped build many homes and was widely respected in his field.

David is survived by his wife, Wendi; his brother Hushie Rechtsman (Cindy Charny) and sister Paula Silver (Mark Silver); his two sons Mikael (Chloe) and Noah (Jackie) Rechtsman; many loving nieces and nephews; as well as seven grandchildren Esther, Ruth, Hannah, Phoenix, Yael, Hartley and Rocklin.

Shiva will be held at 23 Glebe Road West in the common room on the main floor of the building, starting after the funeral. Prayers will continue Monday and Tuesday evenings from 7-9pm.
