On October 21st, 2020, we lost one of G-d’s precious angels; lent to us and taken back far too soon…We all knew him for his kind and generous heart…his undying love as a Son, Brother, Uncle, Nephew, Cousin, and Friend. He was so giving, loyal, and brave.

Loving Son of Linda & Shelley Winick. Brother of Deborah Winick-Daniel. Brother-in-law to Aaron Daniel. Uncle to Nolan Daniel. Step-Son to Alan Heffer, Step-Brother to Rebecca & Robert Heffer. Grandson to the late Cecile & Nick Vertesi, and Diane & Sydney Winick. Nephew to Reva & Rhonda, Teri, Leslie, Marsha & Marvin, Donna & the late Howard Winick, Elaine & Ashley, Jodi & Sandy, dozens of Cousins, extended family Kathy Vertesi & Jay Lerner, Les & Catherine Vertesi, Lesley, Lia & Rebecca Silver, and all of his loving friends.

Always remembered for his passion for reading, boardgames, and his love of cooking. Our lives will never be the same. He will be missed by all.

Deb and Linda, we are so saddened to hear of David's sudden passing. We loved David and although we did not see him often, we have very fond memories. The one that sticks out in our heads is cooking in the kitchen at mom's house when he came to visit. His big smile and loving heart filled the room. It is a memory we will continue to cherish. I feel so, so incredibly lucky to have met David. He and I shared a lot of similar interests, and he had an easy-going personality and contagious laugh that made me feel at ease. I remember there was a period in our friendship where David had unfortunately been forced to deal with a particularly horrible roommate. I remember fuming on his behalf, thinking that the situation wasn't fair, that if I had been in his shoes I would have lashed out in anger at this person who had wronged me. David shocked me by remaining calm and rational. His confidence and self-assurance that he had done what he could, and the peace he found in knowing this, is something that I still greatly admire and respect him for to this day. He showed a strength of character where I would have failed. The idea that I will never see his smile again still shakes me to my core. I feel so much regret now. I wish I could have spoken to him one last time. Please know that if there is anything I can do, I would do it in a heartbeat. My deepest, sincerest condolences.

My thoughts and prayers are with David’s family at such a difficult time. We worked together at CWT in food services and I’ll always have nice memories of him. Whenever he came to the floors to deliver the food on the elevator, we’d find the time to chat about video games, movies and he’d always ask me about my son and wife. We’d catch up even more at the end of our shifts in the locker room as we were locker neighbours, and it was during those times I found out about his love of the Harry Potter books (which I enjoy too). David was nice to me from the first time we met and I’ll never forget that. Rest easy, Mr. David, and thanks for the memories.

I’m deeply sorry to hear of David’s passing. We worked together at Presentation Manor. David was a joy to be around, always happy and cheerful. Staff and residents loved his uplifting spirit. I have been messaging and calling David and thought it was weird to not hear back. As much as I didn't want to, I googled only to see this. I am speechless and shocked. He was taken too soon. David was one of the kindest and thoughtful people I’ve ever met. I’ll remember his infectious laugh, and the way he made myself and the people around him feel part of something fun whenever he let it out. I was hoping to see him again this year to catch up.
