Diana Gold Herscovitch

Passed away peacefully on Sunday December 27th, 2020 in North York General Hospital after a brief illness with her husband and son by her side.

Diana was born in Montreal on September 8th, 1945. She attended Baron Byng and Monklands High Schools. She went on to earn a degree in education at MacDonald College of McGill University. She taught primary school and was very successful teaching immigrant children in an inner city school in Montreal.

Dearly beloved wife of 56 years to devoted husband Howard Herscovitch.

Loving mother to her devoted son Larry. Cherished daughter of the late Lily Gladstone Gold and Louis Ted Gold.

Dear sister and sister-in-law to Sandy Gold Millstein and Richard Millstein, the late Murray Gold and Susan Dykhuis, Robert and the late Ruth Herscovitch and Myra Herscovitch and caring cousin Bunny Weinbaum.

Diana will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by her family, friends, neighbors, and all of those whose lives she touched. She leaves behind nieces and nephews Lisa Millstein Sone and Eryn Sone, Dana Millstein, Alan Hersh and Rosemary Nissenthall, and great niece and nephew Ally and Jayson Sone.

She frequently reminded us the last time she died her hair for Alex's wedding and she had been looking forward to David's. She always looked forward to Passover dinner with us until Gael was no longer able to host it. We will miss her greatly.

I grew up on Prince of Wales in Montreal virtually across the street from the Gold's (and dog Chuck with whom I share my first name), and a few duplexes up the street from the Herscovitch's. It seems like yesterday that we were kids playing hide & go seek or street hockey, yet it was easily 60 plus years ago. We all grew up, and then moved, as many Montrealers did, to Toronto. Through our association with Sandy & Richard we saw Diana & Howard from time to time and then seemed to run into them a few times a year in a supermarket or other retail store where we would catch up and reminisce. Diana was always interesting to talk to and reified the impression that she was a lovely woman. We feel your sadness and share your grief and know Diana will be always missed.
